This standard was formulated more than 30 years ago (SABS 1005 of 1979) and is merely a benchmark not a guarantee of quality. Our beds meet “Internationally Accepted Specifications” which are at least 20% higher than SABS standards.

There are two specifications: the American and the European standards.

Our specifications are the European standards, which we all know are higher. What is the difference between the types of beds?

All our spring beds have the same Bonnell spring unit from which 90% of all beds in the world are made. The comes in the easy strokes; the better the bed the more of, and better quality of.

The comfort layers allow:

A. Comfortability – how comfortable the bed is. B. Conformability – How the bed molds to you, instead of fitting the bed. The better the comfort layers, the better the fit. C. Dura capacity – how long the bed lasts and, more importantly, how the feeling of the first night’s sleep lasts.

The better the bed, the better the quality and thickness of the comforter. This in turn allows weight to be distributed more evenly throughout Sleeping area so that better results are achieved for the above 3 points. Foam, pocket sprung and viscoelastic beds are completely different because here the whole bed works together to provide the comfort and support. Unlike a spring bed where this is achieved by the comfort strokes and the spring unit merely serves as a foundation.
